Class of 1953

As the owner/custodian of the 32nd Corvette produced in the inaugural year 1953, I became curious as to how many of the 300 Polo White identical siblings have survived. And as we enter 70th anniversary of America's Sports Car this question seems even more relevant.  What started out as a quick Google search turned into bigger journey that continues as I attempt to account for all of them.

• Two voluntary registries were found on the internet and compared.  Although some of these entries are several years old, it provided some evidence of a car's existence.  There may be some false positives in the list but listing on both reduces the odds. Links to both registries are located at the bottom of this page
• A third data point is the documented attendees of the 53 cars that attended the 50th anniversary event in Carlisle,  PA.
• I also searched for recent sales.  Using MyMecum I searched for all 1953's crossing their auction block and discovered one that was not on any of the prior lists.
• I have enlisted the help of NCM Insurance and ProTeam Corvette to help ID any of the remaining missing production numbers.  I will provide any updates as they come in.

• Since the article's publication, I have found access to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System via VINData and will soon be able to report by state which cars are registered!
